Getting Started…..

Like so many people in the USA, I was laid off work after ten years of dedication.  I used this time as an opportunity to go back to school and became a Licensed Massage Therapist.  Gone were the days of using expensive Estee Lauder and Clinique products for my sensitive skin; which was a blessing because it forced me to look at other alternatives.  I decided to explore making my own products and focused more on natural options  While in school I was introduced to natural essential oils; so I took it a step further and studied the actual herbs those oils were made from. 

The Beginning….

What I discovered was the world of herbs is bigger than an endless ocean in its vastness.  As I started to research herbs for my products it became more fascinating and less vast.  I began to discover the natural healing power plants bring to humanity.  For instance a flower in the Marigold family called Calendula, grows like a weed, but is one of the greatest first aid herbs for the skin.  It soothes and heals sore, angry, or inflamed skin, containing natural anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antimicrobial actions.   Another herb that grows like a crazy weed is Comfrey, which is also excellent on damaged tissue such as sprains, bruises & scars promoting cell repair and regrowth.  I use these and other amazing herbs in creating my creams, oils, salves and balms.  I find myself always looking forward to adding more health recipes and other herbal aids for the mind, body and spirit.

Synthetic Chemical Introduced…

During the 19^th century the cosmetic industry began using preservatives in their products.  This innovated use of synthetic preservatives caught on and was mass produced within the industry.   Allergies increased with the use of chemical preservatives and other synthetic materials. It has become apparent this day and age to see what unhealthy effects, pesticides, preservatives and artificial chemicals have on our bodies and our skin.  Research has demonstrated the remarkable therapeutic properties of herbs, and as a result more and more people are looking to natural ingredients for their skin care products.  Amazingly I discovered the effects of synthetics when people kept telling me that my creme's were calming their eczema down considerably; the fact of the matter is that my cremes do not have any miracle ingredients to do this, rather they don't have the synthetic chemicals that can irritate skin causing skin reactions like eczema, other dermatitis or inflammations of the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin).

Assurance……

By making my own body and bath products I can be assured of their contents.  I have more control over the freshness and purity of my ingredients. So it is important for me to grow most of my own herbs and use only natural preservatives, high grade essential oils and products that are organic.  Products that I purchase come from companies who support organic agriculture, and are certified in the organic process.

I hope you enjoy my herbal products as much as I do, and that you experience their natural healing effects not only to your skin, but to your mind and spirit as well.
